For my readers who don’t know much about art or the special annual events that happen in Florida, Art Basel is known to be one of the most eventful weekends to wrap up the year here in Miami. It’s where artist and other famous people from around the world come to the city to display their work in galleries and throw awesome events and parties! Since I knew it was going to get a little crazy, I decided to start off the festivities with a more calm approach. I saw that Gilt was teaming up with Scope and putting on a Yoga and Beauty event for Art Basel and I knew it was something I wanted to take part in.

The yoga session lasted 60 minutes but of course, I showed up late and with my ADD half way through I got out of “formation” to take pictures lol. The class was led by an instructor from Trio Yoga located in Wynwood and the session took place in the Scope tent on 8th and Ocean drive facing the ocean which made for the perfect setting for this kind of event. To set the tone they provided a live DJ who played different sound effects to really give us a relaxing session.

After yoga, Gilt and Scope had a hair and makeup sponsor from the hair studio “Blo”. They set up a braid bar and makeup artists testing lippies on anyone who wanted to try out the products. To add to the tranquil settings there were a couple of ladies offering facials outside and some light bites provided by OnJuice. The outdoor area had seating for everyone to socialize and network.

Altogether, it was the perfect way to kick off the intense Art Basel weekend and I got to meet some amazing people.
